All Of Us Strangers: UK Release Date, Trailer, Cast & Plot

News first broke that Normal People's Paul Mescal and Fleabag's Andrew Scott would star alongside each other in All Of Us Strangers last summer. The fact that the film was set to be directed by Andrew Haigh, the guy behind the LGBTQ+ HBO series Looking, as well as the critically acclaimed films Weekend, 45 Years, and Lean on Pete, was a sign that the film was going to be one to watch – and those inklings weren't wrong. Then, the film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in August – cue major buzz for awards season, with Variety dubbing it “Oscar-worthy."

The film follows screenwriter Adam (Andrew Scott), who, after an encounter with his mystifying neighbour Harry (Paul Mescal), is mysteriously pulled back into his childhood home, where it appears his long-dead parents (played by Claire Foy and Jamie Bell) are actually alive — and haven’t aged in 30 years.

In the summer, director Haigh praised the all-star cast, saying: "I mean, all of them, you know, Paul, Andrew, Claire, Jamie, they were like a dream cast to work with. It was a really beautiful experience."

As a UK release date has finally been confirmed, we've pulled together a guide on everything you need to know about All Of Us Strangers. You're welcome.

What is All of Us Strangers about?

A loose adaptation of Taichi Yamada's 1987 novel, Strangers, All of Us Strangers is a fantasy romance that follows Adam (Scott), a man living alone in a tower apartment in London. One night, a man named Harry (Mescal) knocks on his door, and the pair begin a relationship. At the same time, Adam becomes engrossed in memories of his past and his childhood home, which he goes to visit. Upon his arrival, he finds his deceased mother and father, who died in a car crash when he was 12, looking exactly as they did before their tragic deaths.

The official plot synopsis for the film reads: “From director Andrew Haigh. One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbor Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.”
